So what is quidditch? Quidditch is the fictional sport, played on flying broomsticks in JK Rowling’s best selling Harry Potter series. In 2005, this fantasy sport was adapted by students of Vermont’s Middlebury College and while there are no flying bludgers or levitating broomsticks, the allure of a new athletic challenge has nonetheless attracted teams worldwide.
The Australian Quidditch Association is a not for profit organization formed in 2011 following the success of the inaugural QUAFL Cup. We are committed to facilitating all quidditch related activities, be they recreational or competitive. Now nearly 3 years on, the community in Australia is thriving with new teams, leagues and heights of athleticism.
We host two events a year; our national development conference, Quidcamp, where knowledge and skills are shared; and the QUAFL Cup, our multi-day national championships where teams come from across the country. There are also monthly tournaments run by the New South Wales and Victorian state leagues amongst numerous come try days and social events.
Membership is open to all teams and individuals based in Australia.
